Pupil Premium Funding

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England.  It is designed to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities perform better, and close the gap between them and their peers. More information about the background of the Pupil Premium funding can be found here.

At Pickering Community Infant and Nursery School, we have taken a long term strategic approach to our Pupil Premium expenditure, making sure that our decisions on spending are rooted in the best available evidence of what is likely to support children who are disadvantaged to make sustained progress.  The primary focus of our work has been around improving teaching and learning across the school which we know has a particularly significant impact on children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
