Nursery

Our school motto is ‘Learning, Caring, Sharing’ and these are values that we hold central to everything that we do throughout our school.  We are committed to all children achieving their potential and know that this is gained through great teaching and learning, high expectations of behaviour and an environment where children feel happy, safe, valued and respected.  Our staff team work in partnership with families to build positive, supportive relationships and work collaboratively to nurture children’s confidence, ability and curiosity to learn.

As you will see from our photos, our children access their learning opportunities both indoors and outdoors no matter the weather. We encourage parents to send children with suitable clothes for all weathers to enable children to access everything from water play and our mud kitchen to our sensory garden and forest school area.  We offer an exciting range of wider experiences including visits from theatre companies, yoga sessions and themed days such as bike days.

Our Nursery is able to offer full day places as well as part day sessions.  The sessions offered are mornings, lunchtimes or afternoons.  You can choose a combination of days and a combination of sessions. Equally, you are welcome to choose all day every day.  Our session times are detailed below.

Breakfast Club 8am until the start of the school day

Morning Nursery Session 8.45-11.45am

Lunchtime for Nursery 11.45-12.30pm

Afternoon Nursery Session 12.30-3.30pm

After School Club 3.30-5.00pm

Please see our ‘Before and After School Club provision’ page in the ‘Our School’ section for further details.

All 3-year-old children are entitled to 15 hours free nursery education and some families, subject to eligibility criteria, are able to access additional hours through Extended Entitlement funding for 30 hours free nursery education.  Our staff in the school office will be glad to speak to you and give you more details about our Nursery provision and how to access funding for this.  We offer places in September each year for children who turned three years old before 1st September.  We offer an additional January intake for children who turn three in the autumn term, subject to place availability.

Pickering Pre-School is independently run and offers places for children from two years old on the school site.  Their contact details can be found on the ‘Useful Contacts and Links’ page in our ‘Parents’ section.
